Last night though. I got to see Phox perform and meet Monica Martin *swoons*. Katlyn and I had a very suspect photo shoot after leaving Soda Bar, and one of the band members’ mom was there and she was killing it in the crowd. Life is interesting.
PHOX was bred in Baraboo, Wisconsin, a place where the Ringling Brothers lived and wintered their circus, their clowns, their elephants, tigers and the entire menagerie during the off-season months. The high-wire performers rehearsed their new acts, in this place dubbed Circus City. The band is filled with and demonstrates the same kind of wonderment that one could imagine only coming out of people raised in such a magical place, somehow stationed in the middle of the Midwest. Let your own wonderment sweep you away this summer, and don’t miss Phox at the Fort.

This band is ridiculously smile inducing. The rest of our modest description we’ll leave to their bio, which is one of the better ones we’ve seen of late:
"PHOX is from Baraboo, WI, which is a place where kids often drink poisoned groundwater and become endowed mutants. The seven best friends who make up the ensemble happen to be blessed with madness, illusions of grandeur, and the inability to do the same thing twice. They also play music."
PHOX will be at The Echo this Wednesday w/ PigPen Theatre Company.
Cue happy, cup slapping / clarinet soloing video!
